Hi,
A friend got me Ungar's gefilte fish (can't get it in my town) and it thawed by the time I got it. It's now in my fridge. I imagine its still safe to bake with tomato sauce on top. Anyone have any other ideas???

| Sure, it's safe. Just shorten your normal cooking time by a little and check to make sure it's staying moist in the oven. You may have to add a little water if it looks dry.

Personally, if it's fully thawed, I'd pop it back in the freezer for a short while, as otherwise, you'll have a huge blown up roll. _________________ Live the life you want to live. Be the person you want to remember. Make decisions. Make mistakes. If you failed, at least you tried.

Sautee one onion in fry pan until soft.
Put the gefilte fish in the middle of the pan with the onions around. Coat the top of the fish with honey and sprinkle some thyme or tarragon.
Cover the pan (you need the steam to cook the top of the fish) and cook over a low flame, occasionally spooning the liquid back on top of the fish. The onions should get really sticky and caramelised.

Not to worry. I often defrost frozen gefilte fish to make fish balls. I cook them in the mixture I usually use - water, sugar, salt, pepper and onion.
It's delish!

Grease a cookie sheet, and shape it into a "fish head" shape. Decorate with carrots, bell pepper and onions to look like fins and scales. Make sure to give it a smiley face!
Bake with some extra water sprinkled on top and tent loosely with tin foil. Guests and kids love this, it's so cute and not as gross as a real fish head.
