| Lay-a, hands down. It's also the most common, so everyone will say it that way anyways!!

Correct Hebrew pronunciation is Lay-ah, though my DD with that name will sometimes refer to herself as Lee-a when speaking on the phone with a non-Jewish business (they're more familiar with that pronunciation). _________________ Want to lose weight fast? Want to keep it off easily?

That is a chassidish (Hungarian, Galitzianer I believe) pronunciation.

Lol. That's the chassidish pronunciation. |
Bec the "tzaray" (AY sound) is pronounced "EYE" by Chassidish, so you get "Lie-a" or cutely, "Lie-a-lah", but spelled Leah or Laya.

If you are asking to name your own baby, it really depends on the circle you are in.
We have a dd Raizel. (Ray-zel). The person she was named after was Rie-zel, the Chassidish pronounciation. DH asked a rav at the time which way we should go. I really liked "Rie-zel" , but the rav said to go with "Ray-zel" given the types of community we live in. As a BT, I really didn't see it then, but having lived in a bunch of places, I do see that he was right!

Whoops. Only meant to edit that. Bedtime for this mommy.
Some of our relatives will definitely be calling her Lie-ah. But somehow, it's just not rolling comfortably off my tongue. I'm more comfortable with Lay-a or Lee-a.
Maybe I should call her Lay-a and nickname her Lee-a. There, I get both.
But will she grow up all confused with her name pronounced 3 different ways? Hmm.

DD is Lay-a.
My issue was American spelling, since I dint want ppl to pronounce it Lee-a. I went with the trational spelling "Leah" in the end, and peole mispronounce. I wish I had gone with Layah _________________ ~Rebecca

Leh-ah, like in Hebrew.
Lay-ah to me is imitating an English accent, or princess Leia (nice name per se, just not when you mean Lea). Lie-ah is chassidish, I like it. _________________
