| Where do people keep their awkward sized serving dishes and bowls? We have several long rectangular glass dishes and big glass bowls that are fragile. Plus we have a bunch of very heavy serving platters. We're moving in a couple of weeks and we want to have a better system when we move into our house. Currently, all of our serving pieces are stashed together in a closet and it's very difficult to get out the ones that I want to use. Any suggestions?

| If they're pretty, I have seen people set them up in a breakfront... of course, you need the furniture for that... I personally just go with the awkward, clumsy way for now

| I have all the glass ones in my breakfront. Anything else I might have, I just put where there's space.

| I got rid of most of mine. I use regular dinner plates as serving platters, and the moderate size serving bowls that came with my dishes. If I have a lot of people, two or three dinner plates of meat or chicken or two bowls of cholent will go out rather than one huge tray or one giant bathtub-size bowl. Easier to pass around, and more than one person can serve himself at the same time. My style of cooking tends toward smaller volumes of a greater variety of dishes, but whether this is the reason for or the result of my having smaller serving pieces is anybody's guess.

| I have a huge pantry and I use the top shelf for storing serving platters and bowls.

I really like this idea! It's so practical. I could just keep a couple big serving dishes/bowls for when we host a huge family thing, but for the average shabbos meal, we could definitely just get away with using regular dinner plates. Thanks!
