Ages ago we used to love Nestle hot cocoa mix, but then it went OU-D which we don't use. We then went to Kemach Hot cocoa mix and loved it, but this winter they have disappeared from the shelves.

I have tried to make hot cocoa from scratch (used the recipe from the purple Lubavitch cookbook) and it's good, but not the same...plus a pain to do. We really miss our hot cocoa in the morning, creamy and rich just by heating milk and adding mix.

What brand hot cocoa mix do you use?

TIA!

I use cadburys, but my sister uses nesquick (really meant for cold milk, but it works great with hot) or if I only have plain cocoa mix that with sugar and use it.

Didn't someone just post a recipe? If you add powdered dry milk to the mixture, you can just add hot water and it will be creamy and rich.

We use Ko-Sure and love it. You just can't go skimly on the serving. two full T. should do the trick.

Do you mean the Nesquick chocolate syrup? Because the powder is what we used to use, but it's now OU-D....I have the syrup in the house, maybe I'll try that with hot milk. It's an idea....

I've never heard of cadburys - is that European?

Thanks

Alas, that did not meet the approval of the picky residents here....we used the rest of the powder to make dairy rugalach. Those were delicious, but....

nesquick is powder - it comes in chocolate, strawberry and maybe banana flavour. No hechsher but its on the kosher list.

cadburys is an english company.

if you have any friends coming from england you can ask them to bring either of these.

syrup might work, try it.

We find Mehadrin only passable and only use it if Kosure isn't available. We like Kosure the best by far.

And the Kosure sugar-free version is great.

I only use the Israeli Nesquick. I use it with hot or cold milk, or add it to coffee. It's not always available, so when it is I buy a few...

2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp cocoa
3/4 tsp vanilla sugar
pinch salt

dissolve in boiling water, then add milk (1 cup liquid total)

or just use 1 cup milk, heat everything together in small pot, stirring constantly
