I know im a little late, but heres the story:
I've been teaching since I was 18, I started teaching a 7th grade kiruv, got married that yr and left the school the following yr, I returned when those kids were in 11th grade and taught them that yr and now their 12th grade yr. (part time past 2 yrs) we've become close, im young and open abt my own baal teshuva past and we have become real close.
tomorrow is my last official class with them, since I only teach them on mon and next week is memorial day and the following week is already finals.
I've been sitting here for hrs trying to think of what to leave them with, what words of wisdom, what message, something that they can take with them forever. I will ofcourse tell them how much I love each and every one of them , but I want something everlasting.. anyone?
what would you say as the teacher
or what would you want to hear sa the studnet? _________________

You know, I remember teachers and classes well, but I cannot recall one single "parting message". Except for the teacher who said, "Why didn't you do the homework, just because it's the last class?" _________________ "Often the things you worry about don't happen but other stuff does."

| Oh, my high school principal said some stuff like that when we graduated. But I was embarrassed and so blanked out. Maybe write up the things you told them to give them inspiration in the future.

| I actually give a speech on the last day of school, and I teach middle school at the moment. I usually talk generally about the specific class, what I liked about them, how they've grown, make a few in-jokes. I follow that up with some practical advice, such as "never stop learning, never stop asking questions if you want to understand" etc. It's usually received very well (especially the jokes).
