Hi All,

After such a wonderful Shavuot this year I am seriously uninspired about what to make for Shabbat lunch this week. Friday night we are doing with fmaily so we have split the cooking and it's all pretty basic.
We have (new) guests coming for lunch and I really don't know what to make! I'm thinking roast chicken but I don't know with what... or there is a chicken cous cous recipe that I've been meaning to try for ages... I don't know!

Inspire me please! (Wish I could just eat more cheesecake....)

I'm utterly uninspired as well, not to mention falling asleep at the computer. I finished work last night at 3AM and was up early this morning with the baby. I'm starting work again now until after midnight. Friday will be a regular work day as well up until candle lighting.

Unfortunately, relaxing isn't an option, we are having 7 guests at the moment, I'm assuming more will be calling between now and tomorrow afternoon.

Home Made Challah
Gefilta Fish
Chicken Soup with Matzah Balls

Taco Salad with Beef and Doritos

Brisket with Potatoes and Carrots
French Breadcrumb Chicken
Potato Kugel
Cranberry Apple Kugel

Black and White Chocolate Chip Cookies

Shabbos Lunch will be leftovers from Friday night with the addition of Liver, Egg Salad, and Cholent.

Yeah, I'm also pretty uninspired at the moment.

I have defrosted 2 chickens (cut up, the makolet was having a special 15.99 / kilo, all cut up, and he threw in the bits for free). I'll do something with them I guess.

What's the chicken couscous? Maybe I'll make the dark pieces roast and the white meat some type of other dish? Inspire me!

If I get no brilliant revelation here, I will be making roast potatoes, mixed veggies, some type of chicken, and a salad or 2. I need to make challot too, and bake something for dessert.

I thought it was chicken cous cous but I just looked up the recipe and it's with rice. Link http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4686/chicken-biryani
Although when I told DH that I'd make that he said "No no, make a roast chicken..." He doesn't like when I make Indian style dishes!

This looks good. I think I am going to try it. Now I just need someone to go to the store for me and buy some white wine . . .

You ladies are not serious, right, that it's Thursday? Didn't we just finish cooking??

I have quite a lot of leftovers, probably enough for Shabbos, but I feel funny not starting again lekoved Shabbos. Also, if we finish the leftovers I'll have to cook AGAIN on Sunday. Uh, no thanks. I think I'll leave what's left for Sunday and start again (if I have room in the fridge). There's enough soup so I'll skip that this week.

RachelEve, what about oven shnitzel? I dip in egg/oil and then crumbs or ground almonds/ paprika and bake. I might make that too...

Huh? Shabbat? Menu? And what am I supposed to do with all the dairy leftovers?
We are going to eat them for one meal.
And I have a chicken defrosting for another meal.
And I don't know what else.

I can't believe you all have leftovers. We used our Shabbos leftovers for Shavuos and now there is nothing left (although I do have cake and challah in the freezer). and my house is also a disaster-zone!

Uninspired? I'm just plain unmotivated! I'm all cooked out, and I feel like a hog! Seriously, I think I gained 5 pounds over the past two days (which is pathetic, because it took about a month to lose the same amount!) I can't imagine doing any fancy cooking! I have plenty of leftovers, so all I really have to make is soup, cholent and challah, so that will be my lekovod Shabbos, Shalhevet. As for Sunday, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. (Though I was blissfully unaware of that issue, so thank you so much for bringing it up!)

Shalhevet, how do you do your baked snitzel? Do you do egg & oil, or can you do just oil? I've been doing snitzel for the last week (did chicken ones for Shabbot and tofu ones for Chag), but if I can do them as easily as dip in oil and bake I might go for 3 in a row (does that make it a chazakah Laughing )

While we are on the topic of Shabbat, does anyone in Israel want to host 2 really nice seminary girls for Shabbat this week?

I'm having a guest this shabbos I havent seen in 4 years, so I want to make nice. But I dont know if she likes traditional or not so I'm going more traditional-ish-ish.

Homemade challah
Chilbeh
Chumus
Kimchi
Greens salad
Tuna patties
chicken veggie soup with kneidlach, I think.
Chicken from soup
potato kugel
Candied carrots

Shabbos lunch-
Cholent? Or chili.... Can't decide....
If cholent, then kishka. If chili, then tortillas.
