Have you ever been in this position? (I'm sure many have.)

You just bought yourself something nice and it happened to be a really good deal too. You feel SO good about it. You show it to someone you're close with (I.e. friend or family member) and she says, "It's perfect! I'm getting it too!!!" Suddenly you feel like a piece of your individuality was snatched away from you. You think about how funny it would feel walking together in the street and both of you have a matching coat, or purse, or dress (whatever the item may be.) Would you feel comfortable to outright refuse her to get the same or would you keep your mouth shut and inwardly groan? Would you be happy for her to copy you (kind of flattering that she likes your taste so much) or would you be annoyed?

I would think that that's just how life works sometimes. We don't own styles, nor ideas and definitely not items that are up for everyone's taking. It's just one of those weird uncomfortable situations, but there isn't anything I'd say or do, or even feel annoyed about.

I ask if I like s/t and want to get it too. I dont mind others getting what I have-we are all individuals even if we wear the same outfit/shoes/etc

I'd be flattered.

Let's face it. Unless you purchase couture, or design and make your own clothing and accessories, nothing you wear is unique. There are 10,000 other women carrying the same purse, or wearing the same dress or shoes. That's not your *style*

Your style is the way you pull it all together. That you don't wear the self-belt, but instead replace it with a skinny patent leather belt, and wear it with a chunky necklace. Or wear the neckline open with a contrasting color shell.

But if it really bothers you, avoid showing your purchases to other people, other than when you wear them.

Joke: a woman tells her husband, I need a new hat.
- But you just got one.
Yes, but our neighbor bought the same one.
- ??? (scratches head)
Well, it would be cheaper than moving.

When I searched for a new blong wig, no one was selling them, and certainly not long. Now, I see it's trendy. I see the same happening with my band/fall wig. I had to buy in Eretz, now I see some ads.
I don't mind, it's flattering and will make it easier for me next time!

What if you buy yourself something only to see your sister etc. wearing the same thing the next day? It happened to my mom more than once. But maybe it's different cuz they're twins.

What she said.
I understand your feeling that you were ripped off, but that dress or bag or hat has nothing of you in it.
Now if you were to say you designed a dress and sewed it from scratch and then your friend ripped off your design, that would be a different story.
