| Usually, we store unopened (and some opened, but resealed) Pesach ingredients in our Pesach cupboard. I have an unopened box of Dominoes Brown sugar. Will it keep till next year, or will it harden? Is is worth storing? (They are not very good about Pesach stock here in my city. I am still upset about the one year they didn't get any brown sugar at all!)

| As long as you don't open it and let air in, you should be good. I've had lucj storing brown sugar in the freezer, though never for so long. I think it would be fine if its kept in an airtight container - its the air that makes it hard.

Put it sealed into a hard container like tupperware. We had mice get into our pesach cabinet when we were in the states and invested in a lot of containers after wards. _________________ Liba, mommy to Zlata Tova 5/6/98, Tziporah Faiga 1/12/01, Esther Rivka 7/13/04 and Avraham Chaim 7/2/2006

My mom buys Domino's brown sugar... if you can guarantee that it's airtight, then it will keep until next year.
Otherwise... be prepared for a brick.
Although I seem to remember reading about a trick to soften it up... something about a microwave...
here it is: http://tipnut.com/10-ways-to-soften-hard-brown-sugar/ _________________

YESHASettler, thank you sooo much. I clicked on your linked article this morning and saved it in case I one time might need it. Then, waddayaknow, I took out my brown sugar for a recipe for dinner tonight, and it was rock hard. So I did one of the tricks listed, I put my brown sugar in a pyrex, with a bowl of water into the microwave for a minute...then added 30 seconds...my brown sugar was soft like butter.
I couldn't believe it! If not for this thread it would've gone to the garbage like brown sugars of the past. No more! So thank you, THANK YOU, for your wonderful tips.

it didn't work for me when I tried it a 1.5 years ago, I ended up doing it for 3 minutes total then got so badly burnt from the hot water that I refuse to buy non granulated brown sugar ever since...

| Domino is for Pesach all year round. By Chanukah, make sure you have an extra.
