Doing this for the first time! I realized foil isn't going to cut it. Any ideas? I need a fast and easy suggestion. I'm in the States.
Also, what do you use for your tables under the tablecloth?
Thanks

| You can go to the old standard - contact paper. Just don't peel it - tape it down well at the ends. Hatzlacha!

we bought floor lino in a really nice pattern cut to the right size. Works great and rolls up nicely and neatly for next year too!
for the table foil will work.

For the table, I put on one of those clear plastic tablecloths (the ones you usually put on top of the cloth) under the regular cloth. _________________ "The problem begins with... their political hangers oners... such as Anat Hoffman. She is a davener like I am a chinese belly dancer." (FS)

What Shalhevet wrote for the table/s. Doesn't make the regular tablecloth messy. For the countertops, you can easily get a huge roll of clear plastic sheeting and cut it to size. If you do get it (1) the roll will last you for years (2) it's not expensive so (3) You can toss the used plastic after Pesach.
Should you go this route, cut a big piece for the counter including going over the sink (leave some leeway). When the plastic is in place, cut out the sink but leave an overhang (we tape it to the sink and use inserts). Make holes for the faucets/taps and ease the plastic over them to hold it securely in place. It should take you no more than 5 minutes for a countertop.

| Same as above the fastest and most last minute is thick plastic like some use to cover their shabbos tablecloth - (not the disposable ones) many "One Stop Stores" sell it and will cut it to size. Just tape over backsplash and around sinks and stoves. You can toss it after yom tov so there is one less thing to clean.

Thanks Tamiri.
Where can you buy this kind of plastic for the surfaces, and what is it called in Hebrew? Does it survive the whole week of Pesach or does it tear? And I assume you have to avoid putting hot things on it...?

| Just go into Ace or HomeCenter and ask for יריעת פלסטיק (yeri'at plastic). I don't know that they have them here, ours is still from the U.S. It lasts all week and no, we can't put hot things on the plastic. I put a towel down first.

| For counters, you can use the heavy white plastic countertops that all the Jewish houseware stores sell. I just bought two 2' X 6' countertops for $9 total at Paperific (Coney Island Ave bet K - L). They're easy to clean and yes, I store them from year to year. Hatzlacha!

Thanks, I was out all day and didn't up with any thing, so I'm glad to see this thread. I am OOT, so I can't find the hard plastic
I think the thick plastic might work. I got some plastic drop cloths for under the tablecloth, but didn't think about it for the counters.

if you go to a big hardware store in the U.S. like lowes or home depot you can buy plexi glass and have them cut it to size for you. _________________ Life may not be a picnic, but a picnic is no life.

| where OOT are you? I'm in an OOT, and got the thick white corrugated plastic, officially called corroplas, at a hardware store here.

| I used heavy plastic shower curtains, taped them on with duct tape, you can wipe them down and they come off easily after yontif.

| Another idea is the corrugated plastic (like they use for lawn signs). You can even put down most hot pots directly on it.

Like Tamiri we also use plastic sheeting, for years I used leftover from the gulf war!!! We toss after pesach, tried to save from year to year but it gets filthy and full of water.
on the dining table we use a plastic table cloth that we cover with a regular one we don't have a kitchen table. I guess that's the easy part of having such a tiny kitchen! _________________ "Olam Chessed Yiboneh", Tehilim 89.

Many places sell plastic tablecloths by the meter here in Israel during the year and the selection explodes around Pesach-time.
I use this for both my table (underneath is a disposable plastic tablecloth that's taped or tied down) and my counters. I can put hot things directly on it, it folds or rolls up for easy storage (as opposed to hard plastic) and it wipes down SO easily. _________________
