| We are somewhere in between MO and Yeshivish, probably more towards the Yeshivish side. How would we fit in in Ramot? Are there many Americans there? What is the American community like?

Most anglos in Ramot are very DL, so if you are more yeshivish, you probably wouldn't fit.
There is a large (israeli) sefardic community, and up the road it's very charedi with mostly litaim but also some chassidim. All 100% israeli though. _________________ Certified Childbirth Educator

Zus, it depends which part of Ramot you mean. Ramot Gimmel is mostly chareidi, Daled, and Ungar are exclusively chareidi. There are lots of English speakers in both Gimmel and Daled.
Ramot Aleph is DL/ chareidi mixed (maybe also some chiloni?). Ramot Bet I don't know. _________________ "The problem begins with... their political hangers oners... such as Anat Hoffman. She is a davener like I am a chinese belly dancer." (FS)

Zus, that is a general (and untrue statement). My sister lives there and I have spent a lot of time there. There are many modern Yeshivish types, and more are becoming attracted to the area. The Anglo DL you speak of are older (50's, 60's, 70's). They live in a DL part of Ramot Aleph and also in Ramot Bet where there are nicer houses.
The younger (20's, 30's, 40's) people moving into Ramot are more Chardal/Yeshivish/Chareidi. That seems to be the trend. They move to Bet, Gimmel, but also Aleph and Daled if they're more chareidi. These aren't strict rules.
I hope this helps.

| We have friends Anglo Chareidi who moved into Alef this yr. They say while there isn't a tremendously large community, there def is a presence. It seems to be growing.

The chareidi presence is there already, but I think she means the Anglos.

| We are moving to Ramot next year, IY"H. We are also somewhere between MO (Machmir) and Yeshivish. Since we decided to move, we heard from word-of-mouth of at least 3 other couples that are similar in hashkafa that are moving there as well, either to Ramot Bet or Gimmel. If you feel like using your username, I would be happy to PM you if you have more questions. We have been told that more American Yeshivish types are moving to Ramot because there are schools more similar to American Yeshivish schools, and because it's one of the more affordable places left in Yerushalayim. You might also consider Har Nof if you're looking for lots of Americans.

| We are about to move out in May or so IY"H. We currently live in a nice 3 bedroom cottage with a front and back yard, in Ramot Bet. If someone's interested in my landlord's phone #, I'll be happy to provide it. He's a very nice and decent guy.

Different amother, and I'm asking for a friend, but is it for rent or sale? Do you know how many meters it is and how much he is renting or selling it for?

I don't know if he's planning to sell it after we move out, but I can certainly ask.
We're renting it now for 4100 NIS per month.
I don't know how many square meters it is.

We plan to move to Ramot in the near future. Like someone mentioned if you want a high concentration of Anglo Yeshivish type people, then you are better off looking into some place like Har Nof or Ramat Beit Shemesh. If you want to be around a mix of people, Ramot might be a good choice. We also aren't MO, not DL, and yet we aren't Israeli chareidi. We didn't want a place where our children would only associate with Anglos.
I don't know that much about the schools in Ramot itself. One of the reasons we decided to move there is that we wanted to have the selection of Yerushalayim schools, but not pay crazy real estate prices. Not to say it isn't expensive in Ramot, but we found it more affordable than other neighborhoods we considered. There are hasaot to various schools, so you aren't limited to schools in Ramot. That's about all I can share since we don't actually live there yet. Good luck!
