Rachael and Uriel will be returing to Israel ASAP for the Livaya and Shiva.

(For those who don't know, the baby was born at 27 weeks while his parents were in the US visiting family. He survived 11 weeks in NICU.
Interestingly enough, he has the same Yartzheit as Moshe Rabbenu. _________________

Oh, so sad. Baruch Dayan Emes.
Interesting how he had to be born at 27 weeks and he lived for a couple of months, so that the parents must actually sit shiva for him. I think you don't sit shiva for a baby under a month old.
There must be some major, spiritual significance here. (I'm not expecting anyone to see it. I'm just babbling the thoughts in my head). _________________ “All that is thought should not be said. And yet he was never brissed, so he Halachically has no name... so sad.
BTW, the Levaya and shiva will be here in Israel.

He may have no name but that neshomo is zocheh to have his parents sit shiva for him.
Heartbreaking for the parents and clearly alot more there than meets the eye. (I'm big into neshomos this week since I'm only half way through the shloshim for my dad..)

In this case you do the brit on the niftar.
I know it because we checked it out when our son who was born at 26 weeks was at his lowest point (sounds horrible I know). B"h he is now a 6.5 y.o wonderful kid.
As for the name- you do not need a brit to give a name halachically. Our son was named at 5 days old (as per our rav's instructions), and most other kids in NICU were named within the first month too.
If I remember correctly they said he had a name but were not saying what it was. If I'm wrong, then they just name the baby at the "brit".

So sad. The baby will get a bris now, with a name.

it's so sad - you wouldnt expect a preemie who survived 11 weeks in the NICU to not make it. he was already at 38 weeks gestation at thsi point. _________________ http://www.autism-parenting.com

| Baruch Dayan Emes. I did not know of this story, but I'm very sad to hear of their loss. The family should be comforted and find peace.

| I know the parents they are both special people. The mother was my roomate in high school, and the father is my sister-in-laws brother. It amazed me the streangth that they both had durring this whole ordeal. The levaya is Tomorrow at 8:00 PM on Har Hamenuchas at the main Ashkenazic Funeral home. May the entire family have a nechamah.

| a friend of mine had a stillbirth and the baby had a bris before he was buried. that baby did not have a funeral since he did not live, and there was no shiva because he was dead before birth, but he did have a name. if a baby born dead has a name, I cannot imagine one that lived 11 weeks did not. I suspect we just don't know it yet.
