we'd love to go to israel one of these days, and I keep putting it off because I find traveling in general to be stressful. but I can't push it off forever, and my husband would like to go soon.
soooo....
how do I manage the scd while visiting israel? or rather, CAN I manage the scd while visiting israel. keep in mind that I cannot bring my entire kitchen with me, and as it's vacation time, I'd rather not spend an insane amount of time cooking for myself. places to go and things to see, you know.
anyway, any resources would be greatly appreciated. if I can't do this, we'll push off going to israel. yet again. bummer.

My daughter spent a year in seminary in Israel on SCD with no problems. Her school was very accommodating, always having hard boiled eggs, plain baked chicken and veggies on hand. Eating out, she liked Burger's Bar (they have nice salads with grilled meat on top - all made right in front of you) and all "grill" restaurants. You'll have to double check that they don't marinade. She also often got a big salad or vegetable omelet in dairy places (any margarine or cooking spray is okay for her). She got a lot of fresh fruit smoothies when she could see that they were making them from plain, raw fruit - expensive but worth it.
Before she left, I did talk to a friend of a friend in Jerusalem who is on SCD. She said that there aren't any SCD bakeries in the Jerusalem area. She also had trouble figuring out what cheese was legal. But if you're cooking in an apartment, you can check out the rotisserie chicken in the supermarket or just buy raw and there are lots of delicious fruits, vegetables and nuts. When went for Pesach that year, I brought some key grocery items from here.
