Hi! I am very disturbed by some people treating their cleaning ladies like they arn't human beings. I have a friend who doesn't even own a mop. She makes her cleaning lady clean the floor on her hands and knees. I feel that is very degrading. I do not treat my cleaning lady like a queen but she gets a cup of coffee and I wouldn't have her do anything that I myself havn't done at one time or another.

What do you think?

Question Confused

While I personally would never ask a cleaning lady to do that, if your rule is that if you do it, then it's fine to ask them to do it, there are many that wash their floors on their hands and knees.

Once a week I clean on my hands and feet and once a week my cleaning lady does. If she would want to be a beautician she would have been except she chose to be a cleaning lady the same way I chose to be a house wife.

I buy a special foam rubber pad for their knees. In the 99 cent store.
I serve a fresh hot lunch, with at least 6 different items. (fruits, veggies, bread, soup, protein, nosh, cake, coffee, juice, seltzer, etc.)
I give them extra food/cake/nosh/challa to take home.
I don't own a mop/ and wash the floors the same way if they don't show up.
Every year for the holidays I give her a hundred bucks and a bag full of gifts.
I give her gifts for her birthday, for her kids, and anything I want to get rid of for any reason that would not find a better home, goes to her.
The corners and tight spaces will never get clean with a mop.
There is no way to see the dirt when standing, or to get to scrub the parts that are not easily wiped off.
I try to rotate her jobs, but I do have a lot of floors. She is not on the floor all the time, she does other things too.
She does not seem to mind, and enjoys the satisfaction of a job well done.
If I ever had one that tried to wrap a shmatta around the broom, I fired her!

Thankfully, my cleanliness standards do not include ANYONE (either myself or my cleaning lady) scrubbing the floors on their hands and knees.

How do you wash your floors on your hands and knees? Do you use a schmatta and dip it in the pail then squeeze it out and wash the floor and then where do you squeeze out the dirty water back into the same clean pail or do you use two pails?

I keep going back to the sink every few steps and washing the schmatta out again and again.

But my question to you is how to you wash the floors with a mop? Do you dip it in the pail then squeeze it out and wash the floor and then squeeze out the dirty water back into the same clean pail?

amother to answer your question I have never washed the floors my cleaning ladies do that. I would love to know how to do it, I just don't.
But you don't mind washing out the shmatta in your regular sink?
Also how big is the shmatta that you are using?
