I was a high school senior. because of the whole Y2K scare, my best friend and I went on a midnight millennium run where we went through the neighborhood checking that everything was still functioning and the world was in tact (all in jest, of course.)

she would yell out "street lamp" and upon seeing the working light, I'd yell out "check!!"... "car"... "check!!".. and so on for about 15 minutes. I swear my neighbors must have thought we were cracked.

I was not married yet and I was home, my married sister came for shabbos and after the meal she sat down to play othello with her husband and at midnight the game was not over yet so we were joking that this is the longest othello game ever played, they started un year 1999 and ended in year 2000!

I was in Chicago then and now I'm in EY so I'm much happier now. I remember just before Shabbat hearing that it was already past midnight in Australia or New Zealand and that things seemed to be working just fine. Enjoyed my Shabbat meal, went to bed and woke up in the morning.
