Thanks so much Mama Bear, we were going crazy having to remember every night to tzind at the same time so that the yortzit lecht doesn't burn out before we tzind a new one.

Is it allowed to light a 9-day candle for the Rov, and renew it every 9 days?
Thank you.

I missed one night's lighting and made up or it by lighting the next day, as it's the same day really. I guess if you missed a whole day out then there's nothing you can do except carry on the next night...

I guess if the segula has particular 'conditions' then it's good to follow them

So let me see if I understand how to do this, correctly.
A person should light a tea light
either at night before going to sleep (including on Motzei Shabbos)
or right before sundown (?)
and say, "L'iluy Nishmas R' Menachem Mendel ben R' Yosef M'Riminov."
On Erev Shabbos, before Licht Bentching, a person should light a Yartzeit candle
and say, "L'iluy Nishmas R' Menachem Mendel ben R' Yosef M'Riminov."
Is the above correct?
I'm confused by the different instructions in the different posts, above.
Thank you.

Could be during the day or at night. If you light at night then light before Shabbos and then again Motzei Shabbos, however if you light during the day then use a yartzeit lecht so that it is still lit for Shabbos day. It should be lit for 40 consecutive days and say 'Le'iluy nishmas R' Menachem Mendel ben R' Yosef'.
May we all be granted the yeshuos we need along with the Ultimate Redemption.

So this is how I understand the procedure:
You can light every day at the same time, during the day or during the night, using a tea light.
1) If you light during the day:
You light a tea light, on Friday, during the day.
Before Shabbos Licht Bentching, you must light a Yartzeit candle, so that it lasts into Shabbos Day,
because you can't light a candle on Shabbos Day.
You light a tea light on Sunday, during the day.
2) If you light during the night:
You light a tea light, on Thursday night.
Before Shabbos Licht Bentching, you must light a Yartzeit candle, so that it lasts through Friday night,
because you can't light a candle on Friday night.
You light a tea light, on Motzay Shabbos, after Havdala.
Is all of the above, correct?

if you light at night then a tealight is fine by licht bentching. you don't need to light a yahrzheit candle because it doesn't have to burn through the night.

What yentagolda said. And it doesn't have to be lit at the same exact time every day, as long as it's consecutively lit either during the day or after nightfall.
