Sunday:
salmon with all dips: homemade mayonaise, turkish salad, sweet pepper dip, jalepeno dip, chrain....

mushroom sauce

Baked Apple

scb88, a few questions:
What is jeweled orzo?
What is fruity pomegranate salad?
How does lentil soup come out? Do you do it in the crockpot? I am desperate for something hot to serve on Shabbos besides cholent. I once tried lima bean soup but it was overdone. Lentil soup sounds like it may work.

We're not making seudah shlishit...we have no way to do so and still be able to eat a seudat yom tov 3 hours later.
It's not clear yet if we'll be home or at MIL's...when I know I'll be able to figure out if I need to cook!

I was also wondering when this thread will be started.... (was too lazy to start one myself...)
I really gotta sit down with my cookbooks and a pen & paper and start putting a menu together.... like really soon!!!
I plan on filling up my freezer in the next 2 weeks, in case I have the baby before RH....

I cant even think about rosh hashana. No clue if I'm gonna be at home pre-birth, in the hospital, home post birth, at a relatives post birth...
I have the freezer stocked with uncooked chicken. That's the most I'm doing now. Though I did notice some of the simanim on sale in the store. Perhaps I should buy and make them and freeze...

* Challot
* Full simanim (apple, honey, pomegranate, dates, beetroot/chard, leek, pumpkin, fish head)
* Chicken soup (leek broth for veggies) with 7 vegetables
* Chicken of some kind--probably roasted or apricot chicken
* Teriyaki brisket
* maybe meatballs for the kids
* Safran rice, leek patties, broccoli kugel, carrot salad, fennel salad
* Apple cake, honey cake, ring cookies (rosquitas--if I can find someone who bakes them), fruit salad
Lunch
* Challot
* Various dips and salads, homemade baba ganoush, guacamole, red pepper salad, carrot salad, beetroot salad
* Mushroom brekas
* Some kind of fish, probably salmon or fried cod/haddock
* Some kind of pasta salad
* same dessert as dinner, maybe sorbet

AAAAAAAAAAHHH! You are all freaking me out. I haven't really thought about it yet. Luckily we are still one of the most newlywed couples so we are invited out Friday night, I guess shabbos lunch by ourselves so we will do something very simple, I imagine I will do something cold for Staurday night as you have to wait until Y'T 2 is in to begin heating, so probably some salmon and salads (again, just me and DH) and then Sunday lunch we are having some guests but I'll just do probably dips as starters, schnitzel, deli roll, salads and some kind of dessert.
I'm not going to town I'm afraid. I don't physically have time. I'm actually hoping for another invitation....!

Honey, new fruit (maybe pomegranite, maybe something else)

vegetable salad
sweet potato pie
sweet rice kugel
some other sweet chicken
Sun day:
Challah
Flounder
Salad
more chicken (at this point who really cares?!?!?)
some leftover kugel/pie from above.
Dessert: lekach, apple sauce, ice cream
andI have this ambition to make vegetable soup
I try to stay away from anything charif/bitter...so menu is a bit limited.

I haven't created menus yet, but I've been cooking/baking and stocking my freezer.
I'm halfway done with my honey cakes.
Made meatballs, meat loaf, marble cakes, cookies.
Finishing honey cakes today and making fish patties as well as starting round challahs.

the night time meals will just be DH and I so I make a roast and we eat it both nights (and whatever is left over we have the following shabbat).
day time meals will be pareve/dairy so I will make a lasagna and salmon.
with the meals I make regular salad and probably cucumber salad. I will also make some couscous with veggies.
we try to keep everything simple, nothing too fancy. I only make dishes that take 10 - 15 minutes to make. if anything takes longer, I just dont make it.

my right arm is broken. it hurts even to make a sandwich. we have to go away to my parents. all 7 of us. likely yk as well. this is very hard for me. I dont like that my mother will have to work so hard but they really want us and are happy for the company.

So assuming we will actually be making RH this year (we prob. won't know until the week of RH).
I think will do something like this:
Simanim - we have some at the begining of the meal (like the apple and honey and dates) and others as we go along, some we just make up.
Fri. night:
simanim
gefilta fish
chicken soup
either an interesting roast or apricot glazed turkey
roasted potatoes
rice with dried fruit OR stuffing (if we have the turkey)
some sort of green beans (I might try the stickey green beans from KBD SoT)
Shabbat day (I understand there will be a washing kiddush in shul - so this will really be seuda shlishit):
gefilta,
meat from the night before
sweat potato pie
potato kugel
and whatever sides are left from dinner
Second night
simanim
I think we'll do focaccia (spl)
with dips: tepenad, pesto, sun dried tomatoes, butter
some sort of fish, a pasta
Sunday:
I think we'll do BBQ
Haven't thought up salads or desserts yet, haven't been invited out yet, or invited others. And I have to speak to my dr. to see if it is even feasable that I will be home for RH (I may be developing preeclempsia as we speak).

Jeweled Orzo is basically orzo with very small little "jewels" - colored sauteed veggies - peppers, onions, carrots, mushrooms, zuchinni etc.
Fruity Pom salad is a yet-to-be-invented concoction lol. I'm thinking romaine lettuce with pomegranate seeds, mandarins, maybe some other fruits/nuts, and a creamy dressing.
And I pmed you about the lentil soup :-)

I get fresh, ie unpickled brisket and trim excess fat.
Make teriyaki marinade by combining 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 grated onion, 1/2 cup orange juice, 2-3 tbsp ketchup, 2tbsp toasted sesame oil, a bit of freshly ground black pepper and 2-3tbsp honey (I like it less sweet, increase if you want it sweeter). Add chopped scalion bits or grated fresh ginger, as optional. If you have regular teriyaki sauce from the bottle, you can use it. Put everything in a large ziplock bag and marinate ideally overnight. Cook like regular brisket.
