| Does it need to be fancy? I give my MIL something she can put in her freezer and pull out for shabbos like carrot kugel muffins or something like that.

| My mil still has 8 kids at home so I try doing something that'll be appreciated by the kids too. I'm thinking of tri color sorbet in a bundt. It's beautiful and delicious.

| I give my in-laws the same as everyone else. I think I'm repeating last year- mini baked ziti with a little orange juice carton. I must order that five pound brick of cheese...

| Another idea I was thinking of was ordering or baking a huge bagel (about 15 inches), slice it open, fill with cold cuts then cut the bagel in slices for easier serving and have little cups or bowls with mustard, ketchup etc. next to it.

I usually give my mother and mother-in-law a nice bottle of wine (usually a bottle of Moscado d'Asti) along with 2 bunches of 2 colors of expensive grapes, and some strawberries scattered around. I usually arrange it in a nice vase, bowl or centerpiece. Sometimes I add a picture of dd in a picture frame.
This year I think I am going to arrange them in a basket, because the bowls are piling up at my mom's and mom-in-law's. Don't think they want anymore stuff for around the house.

I have this thing that makes fancy the turnovers-a nice design so maybe I'll make that with some filling in the turnovers and present it in a nice way. I'll freeze raw and bake on purim so it'll be fresh and crispy. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

can you give directions for this? just line bundt with plastic wrap, fill with one layer of softened sorbet, freeze, repeat? it sounds nice- I hate scoopng sorbet, such a pain when you have a big group.
how long does it last on the platter before it melts into a puddle?.

No using a basket instead of a crystal vase or bowl, to place the wine, grapes and strawberries

If you want to do something like the sorbet, and easy...I made this ice cream/sorbet for shabbos. It was delicious and very easy. It also looks beautiful. I made it in a 10" round deep pan.
Layer one: Kleins strawberry sorbet...comes in a white cardboard container. Put 2/3 of it in the bottom of the pan. I waited a couple of minutes until I was able to mash it down well.
Layer two: Beat 3 eggs with 1 vanilla and 1/2 cup sugar for 3 minutes. Add 16 oz whip and beat on high for another 3 minutes until stiff. Spread 2/3 of this on top of the set sorbet.
Layer three: Combine leftover whip with leftover sorbet in mixer. Spread on top of set layer.

MIL is always a sore point, as DH wants to give her a big basket, but her Purim is a regular day for us (she's in Jerusalem, we're outside). Usually I just contribute to the seudah, but I don't even know if she's making one this year. _________________ Emmanuel Tzvi: 26 Shevat 5766

a muzzle is what u put on dogs. it's a head gear that keeps them from opening their mouths, keeping them from growling... lol
I'm giving MIL the same thing I'm giving everyone else, but in huge... same goes for my mom...

| My mil lives alone, in an area where there are not many Jews and fewer kosher stores, is diabetic, and has high blood pressure. Her MM goes parcel post, so it has to be nonperishable. I send her sugar-free dark chocolate and chewing gum, and as much as possible real food like flavored crackers, , lo-sodium casserole and soup mixes, unusual condiments, and just to be yotze, two or three perfectly shaped homemade hamantashen. It's not really the food that counts, it's the pleasure and excitment of getting a care package.
