just received this from jerusalem kosher

Osem has reported that powdered milk may have accidentally been
introduced into parve instant chicken-flavored soups.

Consumers who purchased parve chicken flavored soups may return them
to the place of purchase as they are being recalled by Osem. (Kol Chai

I found this on Arutz7:
Quote:

Chicken-Flavor "Hot Portion" Recalled for Milk Traces

Reported: 13:28 PM - Jan/30/09

(IsraelNN.com) Osem has taken its creamy chicken-flavored "Hot Portion" (Manah Hama) off the shelves after a complaint which led to laboratory tests which indicated traces of milk powder in the product, according to News 1. The company is warning people who are allergic or otherwise sensitive to milk and its use in this product not to use it and return it to where they bought it.

People who purchased the product can call the Osem consumer hotline at 1 700 70 76 76.

Is this problem with the powder mix in the tubs or the chicken noodle soup in the packets?

The article I posted is in regards to the 'cup-o-soup'.

Just got this email:

Osem Mana Chama Update - Final
9 Shvat 5769
February 3, 2009

...
Earlier in the day I spoke with Osem's chief mashgiach, Rav Yaakov
Mosher Charlop, asking for some clarification regarding the 'powdered
milk alert' pertaining to the Mana Chama dehydrated parve cream
chicken soup product.

Rav Charlop explained there is 'absolutely no kashrus issue" here at
all, explaining Osem did however feel compelled to release the warning
since one person seems to have exhibited some signs possibly from a
severe milk allergy.

Rav Charlop stated those wishing to seek halachic sources may do so,
explaining the amount of milk powder in the soup is 1/1,369 (0.073).
He stressed that in accordance to the strictest interpretation of
Jewish Law, there is no question here regarding dairy, adding by all
accounts, the mehadrin product is parve so there was never a question
of meat and milk.

The Rav quoted the Aruch HaShulchan, 87:17 or 18, in the Radvaz,
citing the rabbonim ate sugar with meat that contained 2% milk -
seeking to stress the point there are no kashrus concerns here. He
added that in some products, like Bamba Shush, is states "parve" and
has an Eida Chareidit supervision, but there is an allergy alert on
the product for people concerned with milk powder, containing amounts
similar to the dehydrated soup meal in question here, yet it is still
deemed parve by the Eida Chareidit, among the most mehadrin hechshers
available.

The product was manufactured in Israel and sent abroad, but the rabbi
did not know which countries. I did not pursue the matter since my
interest for this forum is kashrut only, not allergy concerns.

With this, I feel we can put the Osem alert to rest.

Respectfully,
Yechiel Spira
