Ds is very big for his age ka'h, so he outgrew his infant carseat a while ago. He's still fine sitting rearfacing, and his ped says we should keep him that way as long as he's fine with it. That's what we plan on doing. (I know this is controversial; I don't want this thread to go there.)

We do have one problem, though. His infant seat had a canopy that would block the sun coming in. The convertible seat doesn't. The sun is constantly getting in his eyes. We have those blinds for the side windows, but first off they're very small so they only block some of the sun, and secondly, the sun often comes in through the back window. Either way, ds SCREAMS when the sun is in his eyes (I have a mirror and can see it - he closes his eyes and tries to turn away, and it really upsets him). I hate putting him through that anytime we drive somewhere during the daytime, but I can't stay home every day unless it's cloudy. Is there any way I can block the sun? I can't imagine he's the only kid with this problem. What did you do?

Can't you get a bigger sunshade and one for the back window?

They do make sun shades for the large rear window. In my old car I had one that went on with suction cups. It really helped.

From what I can see, they don't sell sunshades that cover the whole side windows.

And I can't cover the back window. How will I see out? Sorry, I should have specified that that was my big problem. I need to keep the sun out of his eyes, but I need to be able to see out of my rearview mirror to drive safely (especially to get in and out of parking spaces).

They sell shades that you can see through but block out sun. Kind of looks like screening. I'll try to find and post. Obviously I would not have told you to drive with a shade in back you can't see through! Wink

Click on the picture to get a larger look. I had something just like this - though mine was larger and covered the entire rear window. I don't have it anymore, so I can't tell you who makes the one I had. But this one might help, or keep looking for something similar and maybe you will find the extra large one I had.

Thanks, Miracle Momma! The reviews on that product are horrible, but maybe there's something else similar out there. Has anyone used one that they like?
