| I've seen that site before and was going to order but the shipping to my area was through the roof!

It was such a sweet gift--one of the most thoughtful I've ever gotten.

Yeah, I just looked. It's pricey.

I haven't brought myself to splurge on fresh Parmesan yet despite having more than one store a few blocks away from me that sell it I always walk over to it, turn it over a few times, sadly look at the price tag and walk away. A small triangle costs over $25!!
I think I need to be convinced to buy it. DH isn't a cheese fan so he will think I am nuts. I have a birthday coming up....... for some reason I don't think he will go for the cheese thing. I would rather get my own ice cream freezer!

As far as prices for gourmet cheese go, this actually isn't half bad. It works out to $15 a pound; I often see good Parmesan selling for much more.

but that would raise my weekly grocery bill by almost 50%!!!!!!!!!!! And I can't guarantee it lasting a year and a half. And who knows I may become addicted to it - I cook a lot of dairy so there is tons I would have a blast sprinkling it on and then what if DH loves we could end up in this horrible addiction spiral....
I guess I am a worst case scenario thinker

I have a cheese problem. I can not BELIEVE that I am contemplating buying another chunk of it. At least I have my Chanaukah gelt, which would cover most of it.
I only spent $100 a month on groceries and I'm contemplating spending $150 on a block of CHEESE. I mean, CHEESE. It's ridiculous.

| AM, can you digest goat and/or sheep cheese any better? There are AMAZING kosher dairies in Israel which produce the most astounding cheeses made with goat/sheep cheese. There is also buffalo mozz, yogurt etc.

Unfortunately, it's not digesting dairy that's the issue, it's digesting fat in any form. I have to heavily ration anything made with oil, cheese, nuts, avocado, etc. or bad things happen. Lower-fat yogurt cheese I actually do pretty well with.
I'd still like to try some Israeli cheeses, though.

| HotMama, next time you are here, on the way out from the airport, stop at Moshav Nechalim. It's about 7 minutes north of the airport, in 40. If you arrive during business hours, of course. They have a couple of dairies there (at least), most famous of which is Markovich. The cheeses are to die for. AM, we don't tell your body that there is fat in them, will we?

AvigailMiriam, you'll have to come to Israel to visit some cheeses. And also visit me - my kids are cuter than cheese!
Now I've got to go murder some bugs!!! (Long story, but infested kitchen + me in Sylvester Stallone mode bc I couldn't get rid of them till now + extra lethal spray that someone told me about = thousands of dead bugs [I hope!])

| I have some of that parmesan too, bought in small triangles. it looks expensive, but you use a tiny amount at a time, not a whole pack like chedder. A $25 block can easily last several months.

| AM, this has nothing to do with cheese except in a tangential way as in "say CHEESE!", but----is your avatar really a pic of you?

No, that's a random picture of a lady in a headscarf. She and I look nothing alike.
