I just have to say that while I understand that the fact the OP was "joking" to prove some point, her post described a situation I found myself in recently!! Of course I immediately went to the gannenet and sorted it out, but then a check we deposited bounced causing our next month's check to bounce.

We have a car, we have the money, and we still bounced 2 checks! I am mortified and ashamed (even though it's not my fault, but most likely either a clerical error or an error from the person who gave paid us). I'm embarrassed to face my gannenet because of it so it's no small stretch for me to imagine someone being slightly more embarrassed and slightly less brave than I had to be and not wanting to face it. Not that it's right for them to do, but I have a little compassion because now I can easily feel the agony and feeling of wanting the earth to open and swallow me!

it's more embarrassing not to pay it after a check bounces - then to ignore it hoping she didn't notice ...

and as mamacita pointed out - looks like these things really happen ...

however, that doesn't give OP the right to deceive us in a thread ... or did she prove a point ... dunno - I never saw the other thread ...
