Usernames and passwords

Do you use the same username and passwords for all your different online accounts? Although its the easiest, I dont think its very safe to do that. Also different sites have different requirements, like numbers AND letters, at least 8 letters, etc. But how do you remember it all? Do you tell all the sites to 'remember my password'? Do you write it down somewhere?

I have my browser remember the passwords, but if cookies are deleted or I'm at anther computer, I don't remember it and can't get in. I usually use variations of 1 password, or I remember it by the time period in my life that I joined. Then I try them all if I forget. The sites that require me to choose something with numbers and letters or set a minimum character requirement, I usually forget.
