Can I ask why this needs to be a private forum? What possible "reason" could a woman have other than she meets the criterion. Are you expecting a diagnosis? Perhaps a doctor's certificate? I cannot imagine any greater display of disrespect for my husband.

It needs to be a private forum coz not everyone is comfortable posting about it in public. On the thread women wrote there husbands wanted it kept private.

Why is it disrespect to seek support?

It's not disrespectful to seek support. What is disrespectful is being asked to share my DH's private medical situation as part of the process of being "accepted" into a private forum. Perhaps this is simply an extension of my dislike for the proliferation of private forums and the nebulous admission process.

Basically, the whole thing is a logical contradiction: If you say a private forum is needed because not everyone is comfortable posting in public, then how on earth do such individuals feel comfortable submitting such private information for scrutiny? If you say that the admission requirements don't involve submitting a detailed dignosis, then how is the forum all that private?

No one needs to share any private information they don't want to. I'm sorry if it sounds that way. Just don't want posters clicking out of curiosity. It's enough to write 'my dh has a chronic illness' if you don't want to share more.

I have been able to help so many people B’H with crohn’s disease, IBS, etc. and if these people’s posts are locked out from the public users then I will not know if there’s another person I can help!

I’ve been begging for a digestive disorder forum for some time but the one who wants to be the moderator has to request it. I’m not interested.
