Now here is a political area where I can compete with the rest of all your empassioned political posts;
I really think Weiner & Thompson are pretty good politicians but WHY are they running against Bloomberg???
Are they really going to say they are better qualified to run the city right now?
Cant they go after other jobs and try to boot out elected officials who are not doing an amazing job?
They are candidates I would vote for but I would never vote for them over Bloomberg.
Do they think its good for their careers?
The only thing they can possibly pick on is that the city council voted to extend the term limit instead of the voters.
I think we are one of the luckiest cities to have such a highly qualified Mayor who cares not what bribers nor politicians think, does not need to make deals, who has no interest in the fame or fortune or power that political offices might bring
And does what is best for the city even when he has everyone kicking and screaming because they dont see the outcome as he envisions it & he keeps proving himself right.
How often is a city offered the services of a self made business billoinaire to do such an amazing job for us?
And in a time where economy is going difficult,
And he keeps his election promises?! Now that is historical.
And as far as character, I can really appreciate a man who goes after challenges. His goal is to prove himself that he can & to test the limits of how much he can acheive, that is so good for us.
And we dont have to worry about that its a bunch of political nonsense cuz he had all the fame, power & $$$ before,
the city office has nothing to offer him except for a challenge well met & beaten, maybe records set for doing the best job.
Its true he went the city council voting way instead of directly to the people who voted the term limits in, & even sometimes spoke to the council members to explain his positions even sometimes over dinner,
but he felt it was in the cities best interests (which he has actions that back up doing what is needed to get the job done) & it was our elected officials who voted on it, it was done democratically,
Its true it would be weird if noone ran against him - it would feel wrong, so I guess somebody's gotta do it, though I prefer it would be someone I would never vote for anyway, not those who I think are good but completely not the best candidate for the job right now.
For me "The proof is in the pudding" never held truer & I never appreciated any elected officials work more & he really good with the $$ and he is a great manager & the city has not been in such great shape since who knows when, and he cares about the environment & he cares about not wasting the cities $.
See now I feel better that I was able to gush politics too just like e/o else
