There's about an hour until bedtime where I let my kids play by themselves. The problem is my preschooler and toddler get kind of riled up before bedtime when I leave them to their own resources. They don't want to sit down for a story usually. I'm looking for quiet activities to occupy them right before bed. I mean besides for a bath.

What toys/activities usually keep them occupied?

Do they like to color? You can play games with them like guess who (very simply - each person gets a turn to think of a person and everyone has to ask questions and guess who it is) You can play I spy with them with colors "I spy something that is.." This is more fun by a window if its still light outside. You can sing the songs having to do with the upcoming yontiff or having to do with what they learned in school with them. Really any not so active activity ..

I'm not sure what's personal about this post though..

Ha ha! When they get older they always have the most creative, interesting, urgent things they just have to do when you want them to go to bed. No boredom there. Trust them to discover the homework that didn't get done, the note you have to sign, the phone call they just have to make...
