hm ... so now that I read it ... I see why you are fascinated ... as for me - I consider myself pretty mature ... and even fascinated by the innards of the living ... however I cannot stomach the dead ... Puke

my sister brought an eyeball to school from a cow MOO for dissection when we were little and lived on a farm ...

you're brave -- and I'm nauseous Puke

When they say not to look at animals when you are pregnant they mean live ones, I'm sure dead ones are just fine. Especially when they don't resemble an animal after dissection.

My downstairs neighbors had a cat that they let out of the house and now she roams around outside. It's very annoying b/c she's a domesticated street cat, and she's filthy yet she's not scared of ppl. Every morning I am greeted by her and she's even slipped into my apt a few times!!! You can imagine that we are not very fond of her. So I always joke that I'll volunteer her for dissection. She doesn't live such a good life being kicked out of her home and all, I think heaven would be nicer for her.

I don't understand, for all those of you that can't handle this subject, why didn't you just close the thread after reading the first 2 sentences? Nobody forced you into it.

yeah yeah you did !!! you said you were a hero ... and as we opened the thread Puke ... we were forced ... but I read more when I wasn't eating ... much easier on the stomach ... and the warning helped ward off any queasy readers ...

but please do NOT dissect the cat ... that would not be heroic ... SAVE THE CAT *meow* !!!

ahhhhh memories. I LOVED the cat dissection I am a very visual/hands on person so dissection really helped me understand the muscle placements and how they worked, and how different muscle groups work together Smile I wish I could have done a cadaver in grad school, but alas, only PTs get to do cadavers, not OTs. are you in touro? are you taking A and P 2 with Gussin? hes awesome!!!!!

Hm...I've been ok with dissections before--in HS I dissected a frog and a fetal pig...
But I'm not sure I'll be ok when I have an eyeball dissection to do in a few weeks.....I'm sure it will make me Puke

the school that I go to now used to use cadavers (for nursing and pre med students) I was working in the lab over the summer and they had all the equipment. My prof. said they have a license but they haven't used them in class for a couple years now...

Wow, that was very descriptive. I am not nauseated at all, I’m quite fascinated. Maybe one day I’ll have that opportunity in a less formal setting (my front lawn?). I will report back n my findings.

its not that bad. less blood than when I dissected rats and cats back in lab, didnt smell that bad, and was more "awesome" (for lack of a better word). I dont mean "cool" awesome-I mean "awe-inspiring" awesome. seeing every last detail gives you so much more to be grateful for!
