I need to get a double carriage for my newborn and 17 month old, and can't figure out which one to get. I need one that wheels well for alot of walking, as that's what I'll be doing most, but it should also not be a pain in the neck to fold. It needs to fit through most standard doors.

So far these are what I came up with but I need help figuring out which one is better, so if you know anything about any of these, preferable if you have experience with more than one of them so you can compare them for me, I'd really appreciate your help:

Koelstra

Mountain Buggy

The Baby Jogger City Series(not mini-I think big wheels go better) city classic or city elite

Jane Powertwin

Please add any others that you think are good with your feedback in them.

When I was looking at double carriages for my newborn and then 14 month old (she is 16 months old now) I didnt want to get a side by side for 2 reasons: it doesnt fit thru a narrow doorway and also the older kid will poke, touch and hurt the baby so I got a long carriage. I got the Kolcraft Options Contour Tandem. It was only $200 which is less than half of other double carriages. It is also pretty easy to push and turn because of its wheels and what's really great about it is that the seats can be facing in any direction (check out the demo in the link). It also comes with a car seat attachment that allows you to replace one of the seats with a car seat. The only not so good thing I can think of is that it doesnt fold really compact, you have to remove the seats and then fold it up but I dont think there is a double carriage out there that folds easy and compact so its not such a big deal.

Here is the link: http://www.kolcraft.com/product.aspx?id=149

I've seen the Jane Powertwin and have decided against it for a few reasons the main reason being that the seats are way too small. I saw 8 month old twins in it and it looked suitable for them but I can't imagine keeping a 2 year old in it. There is hardly any leg room and a toddler will most definitely be squished. For me, it's important that both kids can sit comfortably for long stroller rides. My son would be trying to climb out of that stroller after 10 minutes.

I have the city elite and I love it!!!! For SO many reasons...

It folds really easily and relatively small for a stroller that size.
It reclines flat
it gets SUPER dark (so my kids sleep well)
It has TONS of little and large pockets and a huge basket
It has 2 little closable windows on top of the hood so you can see what's going on in the stoller when you're pushing it
Adjustable handlebar (which is amazing for my 6" dh)
It rides SO easy. And that's saying a lot considering I am pushing 2 35lb kids + supplies
It has mesh side windows to let in the breeze into their little cocoon (especially helpful when it's hot)

There's a TON of other awesome things about it...

I suggest you go to a baby store with 2 kids and try it out with the kids in it to see which stroller you like.

Personally, I much prefer side by side than tandem, as I find that by the tandem, once the baby gets a little older, it's stuck staring at the back of the other seat. No view. Between the koelstra and the MB, the MB is a much stronger and more stable carriage. The koelstra looks cool and trendy, but the single wheels in the front, doesn't add much to stability, plus the MB has a great track record. As for the others, I have no experience with them.

I got the phil and ted sport, and love it. My kids are 17 months apart, now 10 months and 2.4 years, and still comfortable in it. It's narrow, so easy to fold, tho not so small when folded, but you can actually fold it when the double seat is on the top. very easy to push, and decent basket space. ds2 is in the back, and doesnt mind it at all, I sometimes hook a toy to the seat in front so he can see something new. I also have a maxi cosi car seat, so got the attachment to clip that on as well.

Phil and teds is the only tandemish stroller that is easy to push and folds easy.

The thing about tandem vs. side by side is that the side by side is much easier to push with heavy kids in it.

I have a double valco and I am really happy that I bought it because I needed the 3rd seat option less than 2 years later.

baby jogger is a great stroller and easy to fold. if you want a side by side I would choose that one.

I have the double mountain buggy. I really like it and it works for my life. Two drawbacks are that it's heavy (we live in a walk up so I just keep it in the car) and it can be tough in certain smaller store isles. Otherwise we are happy. I pushes great, we live in a hilly area and I can push it up a hill with two kids in and packages. it manuvers great and everything comes apart - the fabric - so it can be cleaned. I also like that we can attach the car seat to it or a bassinet. Both of which we have done.
