Does anyone know exactly which nuts are prohibited on R-H?
I thought almonds were ok becz it's shekadim and not egoz.
Is pistachio also no-no for R-H?
I know it's only minhagim but I want to avoid offending objects as
we have lots of people over for meals.

Uh, "only" minhagim are important also.
Pistachio is for sure not okay.
Almonds - dh hummed and hahed - I'll get back to you.
In short I would stay clear if you are having lots of people who you can't ask in advance, unless it's in one thing that you can say 'the third cake on the left has almonds in if anyone doesn't eat them on RH.' _________________ "The problem begins with... their political hangers oners... such as Anat Hoffman. Good point on "minhagim". What puzzles me is, at our local kosher bakery,
all honey cakes come with sliced almond topping.
The only things that I'm planning to serve that I think may be an issue are
mini "sheep's head" made of marzipan, and apricot rolls with chopped pista.
Would definitely stay away from walnuts and hazelnuts which I believe are
"egoz".

Dh now says almonds are okay. In Hebrew they are not called egoz at all.
Can I come round to you? Marzipan sheeps' heads? I just hope I have enough chicken and potatoes for YT...

I think we don't eat walnuts only. We eat almonds and filberts for sure. Everyone has different minhagim when it comes to nuts! _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info

That's cuz they're NOT NUTS!!!! Never bought them b/c ds is allergic to nuts...until one time I saw the package said "pine KERNELS," which made me say hmmmm...called the allergist and he checked and told me they're not nuts!
So I can't see how it could be a problem on R"H.
I would think pecans would be like almonds, since they also have a different name in Hebrew (3 guess what it is ) but I'm not poskening for anyone... _________________ אין עוד מלבדו

| Seems that every year we go through the same questions. I was also wondering about the almonds and pecans so I just have to verify with my dh. He usually is as perplexed as I am about these things. In the old days, they just didn't use walnuts but that may be because that is the only nut they had.

Pine nuts/kernels should be ok, as I think they are called not egoz but "snoubar".
Shalhevet,
It's my daughter who does marzipan playdough artwork. The thing is, noone
recognise it as sheep's head--I was thinking of looking for a mold.
