you should call the teacher and find out why you heard this from your daughter, not the teacher. I think the teacher sounds inexperienced and somewhat irresponsible.

Well she actually told me that it was the assistant that she ran away from, who just came out of sem. Why does it make the teacher look bad? it was my daughter who took off. she is 3 years old and knows much better than that.

because your daughter is 3 and not in charge. 3 yr olds can be expected to run off occasionally. the assistant shouldn't be put in charge if she can't control 3 yr olds.

when that happened with my very mischievous 5-yr-old, they called me immediately to come pick her up from the gan, so that she should understand how grave a misbehavior it was and to demonstrate that they can't be responsible for her under those circumstances.

I got out of my 3 year old dd over shabbos that she was running back into school from the park. So I'm not sure exactly what happend. I guess she didnt stay with the group or stay in line. do you think the teacher should have contacted me?

I think that's jumping to many conclusions all at once.
First of all, you don't know if running away meant out of the line while they were crossing the street, or she didn't want to leave when it was time so she was running away, or they were just playing tag!

Secondly... how is it irresponsible- how do you keep a 3 year old from running away, short of handcuffing the kids together? Confused What shows true responsibility is how the teacher acts after the fact, and not that a kid managed to sprint away from her.

Ah, I just saw amother's last post...

Well, it could be they were on their way back and she ran into the building instead of waiting for the teachers to go in first.
Or it could be as bad as running out of the park in the direction of the school.

You never know, but if you think it might have been something dangerous, give a call yourself!

kids need to be watched and that is the responsibility of the teachers - no matter their age - this child perhaps should not be in school if she cannot listen to authority ...

I totally agree with Gamzu. You never know what her "ran away" means. It may mean she ran away 5 feet when the teacher said it's time to line up. I personally wouldn't be worried but if it really bothers you give the teacher a call or ask her the next time you go to school.
