| |
| The pediatric dentist advised that I should take both of my ds's, aged 7 and 9, for a consultation with an orthodontist to evaluate their overcrowded teeth. The dentist has one in his office, but I do not know of anyone who has used him. My older dd just got her braces off -- Dr. Lew in Brooklyn, but she is convinced that my older ds will hate her. Can anyone suggest a good orthodontist in Brooklyn, as close to flatbush as possible, with a decent bedside manner?

Why are you convinced your ds will hate her? I was always really happy and so were all my siblings and cousins (some who are current patients--both older teenage boys and girls.) Dr. Lew is great!!!
I believe there is another orthodontist who shares her office. You could find out about him if it's really a problem this way you could send your kids at the same time. It is a very organized and well-run office. _________________ "You can say this for ready-mixes - the next generation isn't going to have any trouble making pies exactly like mother used to make." ~Earl Wilson

| dr. jerry steinberg is EXCELLENT! I know because my brother used him. Doesn't he have a closed practice, though? But it is definitely worth it to make phone calls. As far as being close to flatbush- just go up ave m and right down 60th street. no need to drive through the whole bp.

| Manhattanmom, I like Dr. Lew. She just took off my older dd's braces and we had a really good experience with her. But she is no nonsense and would mussar dd about various issues -- not brushing her teeth well enough, she scared her into stopping thumbsucking at age 8-9. While I think that's great, really, one of my ds's is very, very, very sensitive and my older dd (who certainly knows her brother and who, incidentally, likes Dr. Lew) feel that this ds will not handle it well. The office is 5 minutes from where we live also.

| When I was a kid, I (along with half my class) went to Dr. Bosin on E. 19th and Quentin for braces. From what I remember, he was pretty nice.

| Dr. Bosin has retired (semi?) and sold his practice to Dr. Wall and I have heard mixed reviews about Dr. Wall (Wahl?)

Dr. Bernard Klapper has an office on Ave O and East 7th street. Phone # (718) 336-6112
He's very nice and was willing to work with us (read: lowered his price) since we were paying out of pocket (no orthodontic insurance )

Ha! Come to think of it, she scared me into stopping thumbsucking too. I was almost 12 and told me she wouldn't take my braces off (they were ready to come off) unless I stopped sucking my thumb!!!
