I dont get it - what tuma? The baby falling asleep and neshama 'leaving'? Or touching? Do you wash the baby's hands right after birth? They just came thru a very tuma canal...? |
Just like every other person, after the night there is degree of tuma that is left in the fingers and the hands therefore need to be washed. Babies arent 'immune' to that
also, since when is the birth canal tamei??

I've "heard" (in quotes to stress I've heard it without what I consider a valid source) that the not putting a baby before a mirror minhag has some Kabbalistic sources that the baby won't learn to speak or something like that.
I don't hold by that. From a very early age I would put my son in front of a mirror to entertain himself (it can keep him busy for 15 minutes!) so I can grab some time to make supper or do something else quick....
As far as the washing negel vasser, I just started recently--as soon as he hit this "pre-walking" stage because (here's another thing I've heard without a real source--) that it prevents the baby from falling on his head while walking. _________________ "You can say this for ready-mixes - the next generation isn't going to have any trouble making pies exactly like mother used to make." ~Earl Wilson

Tehilla-I never heard of that. Is it the same kind of thing like not giving fish until they say a few words. _________________ Sunday social program forming in Brooklyn for children with social delays. Pm me for more info
