| |
I just walked into the other room where my son is watching my wedding video, and I noticed that the Aide handed me a clothe (his Yarmulka, which he slipped off from under his hat) by the tanim. Not that I ever take so much notice to be careful about it (maybe I should) but it seemed weird just now when I was looking at it, especially since the rav of the community is standing there.
Are you allowed to take something directly from a man other then your husband, father or brother? Is it not allowed, but an exception for the Tanim? _________________ http://aroundthedinnertable.blogspot.com/

| Never heard of such a thing. I work with frum men and we pass things to each other all the time. Frum men work in almost every store in the city I live in and they always hand things to all the women.

The only person in the world that you're not allowed to pass something to is actually your own husband when you are in a state of Nidda.

yup, although you see some people who don't hand things to women or look at them, halachically it's perfectly okay! doesn't the guy in the grocery hand you the change? _________________ "G-d's gifts to you are your talents...How you use them is your gift to G-d."

I think there is a CHUMRA for men and women not to hand things to each other. personally, I don't no anyone who keeps it, but my dh once told me a story of how he was speaking to someone outside his house and a women came to give the family something, the man asked the woman to put the thing down on the car and then he took it.
at a frum store that I go to, the man at the register sometimes puts the change on the counter cuz it's hard to give it w/o touching. but he'll always take my credit card or bills.

| I was taught in school that you should not hand anything over to men. Though in my family we are not so strict about it. When men come to the door for tzedaka I always put the money on a small shelf,(put there for this purpose).
