I think you can do it for cheder but not for girls. anyways it says about schar limud that it is very important to pay and its one thing that you should really try to pay in full. my husband never asks for a discount

Absolutly. Ask you Rav.

And about discount for school, well chedder is very expensive here, and they have a lottery ticket system. For example you only pay like 200$ a month, but in addition to this you commit to selling 10 lottery tickets for 10$ each, and that money completes the school fee.

We live in a community where most students are on scholarship. Our tuition cost is more than the cost of educating one child. We were told we can calculate the difference of the actual cost/child (ie what we would be charged if every student actually paid full tuition) and what we are paying and pull that from our maaser account.

However, you should ask your Rav.

How would you calculate that? Do you know the teacher's salary, adminstrator's salary, secratary, receptionist, custodian, building upkeep, electric bill, phone bill, roof repairs, busses, cost of all the books, computers..... or do you devide the annual budget by the amt of children in school Scratching Head

we pay a hefty amount in school tuition, and our rav said it could count as maisser, for both our girls and our boys. our tuition well exceeds our maisser, and we give on top of that besides. ask your rav and see what he says!

We spoke to the executive administrator. At first he would not disclose the amount to us. It took a lot of back and forth to get a straight answer. We more than qualify for a scholarship, so we offered the alternative of applying our tzedakah funds elsewhere. In the end he gave us a figure and this is what we use.

OP mentioned that a friend uses her maaser $ for tuition.
amother is claiming to be that friend(apparently she doesn't like being discussed)
