| we focus alot on manners in our house. I didn't realize what kind of effect it was having on my kids until I had the following conversation with my son. I gave him a wafer and prompted him with, “thank you Mommy”. My ds says "Thank you" dutifully and then said “I didn’t hear a your welcome!”

We have that too. If one of my boys says thank you to someone and that person doesn't answer you're welcome, they get so insulted- almost in tears!
