What does the yiddish name "pessy" mean?

what does the name pessy mean? I know in hebrew its fool but what about in yiddish?

pessy in Hebrew is with a 'saf' and the name is with a 'samech' so it's not the same word. I think it's usually short for 'Pessel,' which hasn't saved you much if you don't want a name with a not so nice Heb. meaning, but there is also a name "Pessa." Don't know what either of the Yiddish meanings are.

could it be its just a made up name with no meaning?

I believe that Pessel is Yiddish for Pearl.

I don't recall the source, but Peshe/Peshie/Pesia/Pess'l is a corruption of batya. batya-Basya-Basha-Beshe-Peshe. It's just like the game Broken Telephone.

It means the parents named their child Pessy… I also have a yiddishized name… I couldn’t care less what the source is, as long as I turn out to be like my bubby’s mother… I’ll be fine.

I was never comfortable with that name, as all forms mean something not good in Hebrew- Pessy, Pessel, Pesha...

I know every name could have a bad meaning in one of the hundreds of languages, but this is too close, meaning both Jewish languages...

ugliest name since the creation of this world. I think only that awful name Yenta takes the cake for being the most nasty name in jewish history. god help us all.
