I'm getting a cleaning lady tomorrow. Whenever I've had a cleaning lady before, they always ask for different chemicals than I have, but I never remember what. I make do with what I have, but what are some standards that I should get to make it easier for the cleaning lady?

I have a mop, broom, scrub brush, toilet brush, 3 rags, sponges, paper towel galore.

As far as chemicals: bleach, ammonia, soft scrub, comet, windex multipurpose, lysol multipurpose, grease lightning for the stovetop, easyoff, toilet bowl cleaner, and 409.

Do I need fantastik? Anything else?

Also, would it be weird of me to ask the cleaning lady to do dishes? What about fold laundry?

Thanks for answering my silly cleaning lady questions. This is my first time getting help in nearly 2 years and I'm really excited! Very Happy

1st of all, congradulations on your new cleaning lady.
about the cleaning products, you sound like you have a ton of stuff so it should be enough.
I always have the cleaning lady do dishes 1st. totally not wierd. this last time I dumped all the babys clothes on the couch adn sat the lady down in front of the dresser and fold/put e\t away. she siad- what goes in what draw? I told her, you organize it (she's extremely organized and a neat fanatic), and tell me what goes where.
don't forget, you are paying her, you can ask her to do whatever you want.
enjoy!

yeah, dishes/laundry totally makes sense. Hatzlochah with the new one!

I've been looking for one myself, but it's hard finding someone good that doesn't cost an INSANE amount of money here....even for just 2 hours/wk

The first time that I had ever had a cleaning lady and last btw, b/c for me it's a fancy thing - I asked her what she wanted, as she's the professional! She told me exactly what she needed - lots of rags, these 3 or 4 different cleaning chemicals - she even told me the brands. So, I would say, ask her!

hey you didn't list a bucket ... but sounds like you got it all ... 409 and fantastic are the same thing just dif brands ...

and dif cleaning ladies do things dif ...

once just before pesach with a new baby and a little girly I had a cleaning lady ... she was so fabulous even ironed the baby clothes, etc. she came from a service so when I called the next time they sent another person ... not the same at all and she wouldn't even do anything (I had to tell her I'm done so she would leave) so ...

be picky you are paying and ENJOY the experience ... hmm the smell of a clean house ...

A piece of advice- follow her around the first time to make sure she's doing things the way you like them and you might have to show her exactly what u want. When I tried a cleaning lady out once, I went to check on her and her version of cleaning the bathtub was filling up a washing cup with water and throwing it against the walls. She never came back!
