I am having a dilemma. We are now living in a house, which we bought not too long ago. The property is nice and big, but the house, has not been redone yet, only parts of it, like a beautiful new kitchen mostly. Plus we did redo alot, put in alot of money. But yet, still far from done. Constantly begging dh to finish, plus we need to add on, cuz of lack of room.
Now, we found this house, not far from where we are living now, which dh always kept his eyes on. Just happened to go look at it, put in an offer, and we got the house. We just closed on it, and the kids saw it and want to move there. The house itself, is a bigger, has 4 gorgeous fully tiled bathrooms, one with jacuzzi, which is a private one in the master bedroom, one with a sauna, and one plain toilet only, which my little one calls the chasuna toilet, cuz it has mirror on the upper half of the tiles, and of course just one with a regular tub, compared to our 2 horrible ones we have now. At the house we are now, our kids have to walk over a block to the bus, heat, cold, rain or shine. At this new one, the bus will stop at our door, or so. The one we are living in now, at the moment has 3 bedrooms, compared to the six bedrooms, where we live now, almost no closets, compared to closets galore, alot more than stuff we have, well almost.
The new one, has central air, 2 units. A gorgeous custom wood all around shelved library, with wood burning brick fireplace. The dilemma is two fold, one, the property as in land, backyard, here I see trees, over there, there is a house not far. And two, we put in alot of money here already, but it would take way way more to get it in any shape, but never enough money to get it the same as the new one. Still have to put in about 20 thousand, but will need alot more and then some and will never get this one to the same level.
So we are having a hard time deciding, should we move or not???????????

| I don't get the dilemma. You already closed on the second house. Is the concern that you may not make back the money that you put into the old house? If so, it is a bit late to do anything about that now. If the concern is privacy, you can put a tall fence around the new backyard and plant trees.

| Aside from some subconscious jitters, it sounds like you're way more thrilled with the second. If you can afford it, why not?

I'm confused ... that is the sort of question you ask before you put in a bid and close on a house
so now you have 2 houses ... hm ... a shabbos house and a weekday house ... nice!!! _________________ _________________

If you have two houses it would be better to make one a Pesach house, that way no Pesach cleaning .

OP here, I have to rent one out, to be able to pay the mortgage. The two biggest concerns, and trepidations are the bigger lot with noone in the backyard, and the brand new gorgeous kitchen. Other than that, it sure is better, the second one I bought.
If we do decide to sell, I am sure that I can get back all the money I put in, not doubting that. Anyway, thanks all for your responses. Just needed to vent and get other ppls feels for it.

If the rental market is decent where you live (and the house is smallish, because it is hard to find renters for big houses in most places), you should for sure rent it out instead of selling in a weak market and paying huge capital gains taxes (assuming you have equity in it).
As for the backyard, a fence and trees should do the trick.

are you asking which house you should rent? I don't think you'd be able to find someone to rent the second house unless it was just a really short term stint.
if I had the money to rent a luxurious 6 bedroom house, I wouldn't be renting at all.
