I believe because she spoke badly about Moshe ... the leprosy was to teach us not to speak loshon hora ... and yes Tziporah was known to be his only wife ...

| Nope there are two opinions-- one is that the isha cushit was tzipporah and one is that it was a new wife. What is wrong with the idea that moshe had a second wife, what is wrong with Moshe having a wife who was ethiopian?!?!?
