Kriah Teachers - Help Needed Plz

I'm working with ds over the summer to try to get him up to speed with kriah and alef bet recognition. I need some ideas to help me teach the following;

taf & saf

shin & sin

ayin & tzaddik

samach & mem sofit

kaf, chaf, & chaf sofit

yud, vav,raish, & nun sofit

If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you.

Does your son actually confuse these letters? Because if he doesn't, then it can actually confuse him more by comparing them to each other.

The Sefer HaMasores is used by some of the schools in my community. Another one is the Mavo Likriah and the companion Ezer book.

the Masores has a few pages dedicated to recognizing the similar letters properly. The consensus is that it's a good system. My best reader learned with the Ezer and Mavo Lekriah.

Some he confuses, others he says he doesnt know the answer, I suspect because he is unsure becuse they look similar.

flashcards with the same color on all cards
form the letters in play dough/pretzels/ etc.
form the letters with body.
write the letters.
have him point out letter on page full of letters.
use aleph bais videos, puzzles, games etc.
samach has a sssslanted ssssslide
here's a helpful chant:
"a bais has a dot and a vais does not,
a caf has a dot and a chof does not,
a pai has a dot and a fay does not,
a taf has a dot and a sof does not."
here's another one:
"a ayin has a zayin sitting on his lap"
for the final letters, cut out the letter and cut off the bottom. stick the bottom on with a paper fastener and show him how the original letter becomes the final letter by just moving the paper fastener (I hope you understand what I mean)
shin and sin are def. the hardest. make sure he says shema everyday with the shin hand. stress shhhhin and shhhhma.
pick one helpful hint per letter and only stick with that hint - don't make it confusing by using a diff. helpful hint each time.
I'm happy to see a parent who is trying to help her son over summer vacation - keep it up!!!.
I would just stress to all mothers that it is imperative that your child knows the aleph bais (and the names of the nekudos) backwards and forwards in thier sleep before moving on to nekudos!!!

ayin & tzaddik - two brothers go for a walk - little and big brother - and after walking a lot, the little brother says he's too tired to walk. So big brother put him on his back to carry him and says, "you're such a tzaddik!"
Look at the Tzaddik you see little brother (yud?) on a bent back.

try to come up with stories or songs that will help with the other letters. this helps many kids.
like "mem sofit - looks like a box!"
if he's used to the phrase, when he sees samach or mem sofit, he can see if it's more round or squre.
