| |
I am working privately for someone - doing office, quickbooks, secretarial stuff.
I didn't set a price per an hour yet with him. I wanted to look around, because I am paying a babysitter 7 an hour!
What is a fare rate I can charge per an hour? What are people getting paid per an hour for such work these days? This is in Brooklyn

You should really figure this out before workign too long!
I don't really know what "usual" pay is, but I can tell you that my sister who just graduated last month from high school just started working in an office, answering phones, doing paperwork, I think.
She is starting with $13/hr on the books, with a raise in 3 months.
As mentioned, I don't know what's accepted. I have a very different type of job (I have a degree).

also between taxes you have to evaluate if you will be coming home with any $$$ at the end of the week ... and if it is worth it _________________ don't wonder why people go crazy ... rather wonder why we don't

You getting payed on/off the books? Full on the books or part?
Whatever it is, you want to make enough to file taxes, cover the sitter, and make a little more.
How are you transporting, are you paying for it? All these extra costs, you gotta think about.
Aisde note: Where did you find someone that only charges 7$/hr!!!! _________________

| I remember when one of the famous C.H. babysitters took 50 cent more per hour than the B.R. techers make. ...but women still taught and still used her!

and I was thinking if it's for 1 kid, $7 an hour is a lot!
if you send your baby to a group babysitter, you can get for $5 or even less an hour. If it's a 1-on-1 babysitter, then $7 (for a woman) I understand is not bad. _________________ "G-d's gifts to you are your talents...How you use them is your gift to G-d."

| I asked my husband what he thought would be a fair wage per hour. he said since you're doing quickbooks and are capable of bookkeeping, $20/hr would be a fair amount. he worked in an office doing bookkeeping, etc. and thats how much he got paid. we're notin brooklyn though, so I don't know what the going rate in your community is.
