Ok I like homemade but I was looking for quick lunch things for the kids .
Are there no kosher boxed macaroni and cheeses? You have to understand that there are no kosher grocery stores here. My choices are wal-mart and kroger(if you know what that is). So it would have to be a major brand. I spent a good 20 min. looking over every box. Kraft obviously doesn't believe in having kosher products and they have a monopoly on the mac and cheese. I am just ranting but what can I feed my kids for lunch? They need substance(we are sick of PB&J) and I don't want to have to do much work. Very Happy

There's a brand called Fould's , we have it here in Brooklyn, but it's NOT CY, it's OU-D, other than that, there really isn't any other brand out there that's kosher.

Are the boxed mac and cheeses any quicker than boiling a pot of macaroni and adding cheese, milk and butter? I used the boxed only once to try, it was a color not found in nature... kind of scary to eat it.

I don't know if it is really any faster. You are right that they probably aren't so good. Maybe we will just stick to the real stuff.
The Wal-Marts here don't even have a kosher section. You just have to hunt arround the store. The closest kosher section is 30 minutes away and it is 1 freezer case and half of an isle. Most things you have to order on the net. Has anyone els noticed the thing about Kraft? It seems like nothing of their brand is kosher.

Nothing Kraft is kosher - at least not the mac and cheese stuff. As for mac and cheese - I B"H live on a block w/4 kosher markets - not to mention the restaurants. There are kosher both cholov yisroel mac and cheese and ou-d. But, they aren't so tasty. Made from scratch it way yummier. However, if you want me to send you some in the mail, pm me.

Thanks! It would probably be much easier to just make the stuff myself . That is way too much trouble to have you send it by mail. I really appreciate it though! Very Happy

Kraft makes many kosher products; I use their mayonnaise exclusively!

It is so great that you guys would mail me the stuff. Really it is ok, I will just make my own. It is way too much trouble to mail me some fake cheese. Laughing I have never looked at their mayo cm. I have just looked at alot of their boxed products and cheese proucts. Being such a big company I would figure they would have more kosher stuff.

Yes, I've used Kraft barbeque sauce on my chicken. OK-parve.

Re: mac & cheese. Foulds are kosher, not cholov yisroel. as are "wacky mac" I think.
Cholov Yisroel there is Old City and Tavor. They run about $1.29/box. I also volunteer to mail you some cheese inserts if you'd like. That makes more sense than mailing the pasta, too.

I found a kosher, boxed mac n' cheese brand (not a "haimishe" brand) at a dollar store one time. I've also seen some boxed Kosher mac n' cheese at the health food store. Aside from the fact that I LOVE that orange cheese, it's really not worthwhile to buy. Mac n' cheese is so easy to make. . . it's really not worth the $ to make it from the box.

Back in the day, I'd have little parties with my friends and we'd make a couple boxes of Wacky Mac and add chedder cheese, salsa and sour cream. . . yummy!
