with all competion to get in- etc. did any of you feel that sem (tzfas) lived up to its name- a seminary that is challenging and has a good chassidish atmosphere?

if you take the classes and all the bekius tests seriously then it can be called challenging. as far as the chassidishe atmosphere - that has alot to do with the year/group but overall I think there is a chassidishe atmosphere

actually I was a little disappointed.
coming from brhs- we had gemers and the bekius tests were just a MUCH easier version of the gemers. I took the first bekius test seriously and after I took it I saw what kind of a joke it was- (I even think you could have your chumashim open)
coming from brhs- where the education is not that amazing- I found it like an extension of high school.
and the teacher training courses were either directly from "how to talk so kids will listen, hot to listen so kids will talk" or by a teacher that I wouldn't quite take example from how I should conduct my lesson( at least mine was like that- I know the other madafit was ok)
I don't think it was just my year cuz talking to any tzfat alumni (I guess recen tly) they would all agree that the only class that is worth listening to- is friedman (and hertzel)
anyone agree?

I liked friedman, hertzel, and mrs chitrik for tikshoret and teaching was amazing! otherwise the rest were a waste of time. I can barely remember their names so I guess they didnt make much o an impression

Mr. Reis - geography. he had so much to say, but seeing as he was x eyed noone was gonna take him seriously.
mr tal - as if his ivrit classes taught us anything.
chumash and halacha with rabbi chitch - was ok
rabbi friedman - brilliant, but who could hear him?
rabbi hertzel, was alright.
rabbi birnshtock - noone took him seriously.
mrs chitrik - teaching stuff - ye that was good.
mrs kaplan's bayis yehudi was AMAZING.
I don't even remember all the rest.

but I def. didn't htink it was what it was cracked out to be. OC was much better...

they made it easier in recent years. it used to be quite difficult and with closed chumashim. their open questions were ridiculous, usually covering a topic you'd never dream of memorizing. nowadays the tests are computerized and much much easier. I came across a sample test and flipped - it's really not seminary level!

this thread brings back fond memories.
I wish we had more time with Mr. Rice? we called him Mr Orez. Laughing I loved Rabbi Chitrik's classes, Rabbi Friedman, Rabbi Wilshansky, Rabbi Birnshtock, Mrs. Kaplan, Mrs. Wilshansky, Mrs. Segal, Mrs. Chitrik, Rabbi Raices, Rabbi Tzeitlin, we learned so so much.
ok, psychology and science- wh atever.
HAHAHA remember the bekius test on Mishna, I got a 57! the lowest grade I'd ever gotten in my life.
