My 11 ds attempted to make a babka on his own. I have no idea what went wrong but its kinda thick and dough-y, not enough filling, and a bit dry. he was kinda disappointed.
is there any way to turn it into something edible? I was thinking using it for french toast but he thought that was not very appetizing. but I'm happy to soak it or slather it in something or whatever you creative cooks can think up.

and while we're on the topic, does anyone have a tried and true recipe for babka? the one he used is from the purple spice and spirit cookbook and tbh, I've tried it once or twice myself in the past without success.

toast it & put chocolate spread - eat it hot

as for a general idea - the dough should be rolled out very thin & rolled up & twisted & folded & twisted with lots of crumble mixed in between

I use the same dough I use for challah - the sugars, etc. make it not hamotzi

challah dough. hmm. that's a great idea. maybe we will to a test baby-babka this week with a small amt of my challah dough and see how that works out.
thanks greenfire Smile

and yeah, he probably didnt roll it out thin enough. good point.
