When looking for a job, many people say it's more effective to walk into the office with your resume and present yourself as a prospective employee. But do prospective employers find this intrusive? What's better these days, to apply in person or email a resume and wait for a response?

Actually, the best thing is to have an employee of the company hand deliver your application to HR with a personal recommendation.

As an employer, I would hate to have someone just walk in with a resume. I have a busy day and many things to do and do not expect to get interrupted by someone who I might not even give an interview to.

Email HR. Etiquette has changed and that's the new normal. But you never know when you might actually have a connection somewhere, 6 degrees of separation, yknow... ask around.
