Where can I buy the gourmet meals to go? They were featured at this years kosherfest. Are these and the meal mart travel meals good or decent? I tried la briut and couldn't eat it. Are these better than la briut? Any other meals we can take that don't require refrigeration or heating? Besides for tuna and salmon in a can. tia

I don't know about Gourmet meals to go, but DH and kids love (most) Meal Mart meals, and we've often used them on travels without any problem.

The Meal Mart meals are good.
I find the meat dishes better than the chicken dishes.
Go for it.

Eating sawdust is better than la briut. Those things are FOUL! Puke

Meal Mart is pretty good, it's about a half step above kosher airplane meals.

I couldn't agree more.
La Briut meals are horrible.

Does it have to be microwaved, or can you heat the meal mart meals in a pot on a burner? Is one box enough for one meal per person or are they small portions? Are there any other healthy shelf stable filling foods you take on vacation?

I believe the box only has instructions for the microwave. I could be wrong. It's double sealed and can be made in a treif microwave (box counts as the second seal IIRC so don't open until you read instructions).
They are small meals so if you're consisting soley on that, you definitely need snacks/fruits or more than 1 portion per person.

DH likes their meat cholent and beef rib steak. We've also had success with meatballs and rice, and chicken. We didn't have much success with one of the soups. For a woman or kids one container is certainly filling; if DH is really hungry he'll occasionally have two, but usually one is enough. We always heat up with a microwave, so I don't know about other methods.

haven't had those in a while but last time I did, they were pretty decent.
they also sell canned food but it's not listed on their website. I'd call them and find out about it because those are supposedly better than the trays. the cans are heatable by dunking them in hot water for two minutes or so.
