DH has a seudah for a learning project he's involved in, DS is at a Shabaton, DD will prob be involved in FOOTBALL, he says....unless I want to take him out to dinner (which I did a few weeks ago when this situation repeated itself).....

Should I spend money on something I don't have a real yen to do? I don't care to go out on Sunday nights anyway . . . and although there are a lot of lechaims; it's people I barely know . .. ..

If I had a FRIEND tomeet up,with however . . . . .

I'm hoping to go but buying only 1 ticket I think. We really need a bunkbed for DD's room. I'm saving the rest of my $$ for KSCVK. DS wants to use $5 of his Chanukah gelt to go for the nintendo then. Maybe I'll see you there.

I don't know which chinese auction you're talking about, but if you need a night out, go! You don't have to spend tons of $$. Just pay entrance and hang out -- esp. if they have good snacks! Wink

I ate dinner already . . and as I said, I don't have an eye on any of the prices, nor do I care to spend the admissions fee. I just wanted something to do, that's all........

DD came home from the shabbaton and went right out; DS is still busy with football, and DH has a siyum mishnayos and won't be home until late I guess . . . .

Yes, the Chinese Auction phenomenon is almost out of hand, there are so many and such similar prizes . . .

yeah, but the point is raising money for the school/organization. so if it works, who cares if the prizes are similar. it's not like we keep winning the same wons over and over

I kinda liked it when I thought your daughter was playing football

Do something for yourself don't stay home and mope - chinese auction can be like window shopping and maybe you'll meet someone you know there and have fun

It is ma'aser. And if you dont owe any masser then you will be in masser credit. With chinese auctions most people forget that the point is tzedaka and they go with a whole shopping list and get depressed if they dont win.

Rivky, I'm not looking to increase my mayser - remember I have kids in yeshiva and pay their tuition!

Green, NOW you answer? Three days after the event is over the the prizes have gone home with the winners?

But yeah, the idea of her playing football is funny - DS was actually WATCHING the game and eating nosh, but I suppose that's not as colorful, is it . .
