If you don't know what I'm talking about, there's a current major trend of skirts that are short (knee-length or shorter) in front, but long in the back. A mullet-skirt, if you will.

I know I shouldn't spend this much energy on despising them, but in my search for maxi dresses/skirts for this summer, the normal ones were sooo outnumbered by the hi-low ones. It was maddening to see a dress I thought would be perfect, only to turn the hanger around and see the hemline was over a foot shorter in front. I find them ugly, unflattering and waaay too trendy for their own good (the look will be so dated so soon).

Also, I wear a maxi dress so can wear short socks... so even if it's tznius and the front covers my knees, I have to have stockinged legs in the summer now? NO THANK YOU.

If you like 'em... why?
Or are you waiting for this trend to blow over too?

That dress is truly hideous. I have two or three hi gh low skirts. They are all very flattering on me. You might not like the look, so don't wear it. It looks really nice on many people. You just need to find one that works with your body. Its not all that new I have one skirt that is over five years old with that hemline.

I wouldn't wear it, but it doesn't look hideous to me.

I have a cheap one with a paperbag waist that looks great on me with a tucked in fitted top. But I wouldn't buy more than a couple or spend a lot on it....but that's what I do with all trends. Buy them cheap and minimally.

I dont see why this is 'hippy dippy' or has'an identity crisis'. I actually love the black dress on the lower right hand side. things that are new and different can be scary but I think saying those things is a bit and overly dramatic.

Blow over is exactly what these dresses look like they are about to do.

I voted Meh Whateves but then I actually liked the lower right black dress too. Why not? Like all fashion it depends on how you put it together.

The second one here looks downright slutty

I was actually going to try on a couple when I was shopping this weekend. Then I decided that I'm not comfortable with the whole look. The idea kind of reminds me of a long slit.

the colorful dress is nice and the black ok too. I don't have anything like this though, not worth spending the money. The ones that go above the knee and drop in the back are horrible though, and I don't mean it from a tznius point of view. I just don't think that anyone unless someone has INCREDIBLE legs would look great in that. Same goes for skirts that are above the knee, most women Jewish or not, don't realize that you have to have awesome legs to pull it off. Otherwise you would just look much better in knee length or slightly below knee.

I like them. I would buy one if I found one which was tniuz and not frumpy. OP's picture is too beachy for me and the others are too high.

Nothing to do with tsnius -To me it looks off. Or like someone was scissors-happy. Or very pregnant with the wrong clothing. Or didn't finish their sewing lessons.

Can you buy a few sizes larger and trim the longer side so it is the same as the shorter?

edited to add : I like this sentance "What kind of identity crisis clothing is this?!?"

For all of you who said no(me included). What will you answer in two years when Everyone is wearing it? Will you still hate it? I would probably be used to it and actually try it on. B embarrassed
