What's in it for women? They're basically being hired as unpaid prostitutes.
the whole idea is disgusting and I find it hard to believe it's halachically acceptable.
I dont get how this is allowed.

Actually halachicly she cannot - a pilegesh can't have more than one man (while a man can have many).
