I use mark sperber and my kids love him. I have a friend who just switched from lightman because she was very unhappy. He is great at what he does, but the appointments are a disaster. I took my kids to him once, and I waited over an hour, plus I had a sleeping baby and they have a "no stroller in the room" rule. I would have at least expected to see him after an hour wait, but one of the p.a.'s saw us. From what I hear from my friends, this is very common. The lonhest I ever had to wait by sperber was 15 minutes. He practices alone so you always see him. He's got lots of toys and books in the waiting room and has drawers stocked with "prizes" for after he is done. He's also great at returning phone calls. He's also good at talking things out, and eill discuss and delay vax if that is what you want to do. He's also good when it comes to discussing development in general, and when it comes to discussing issues that may need to be looked into with regard to services. He's not an alarmist at all, but he gives you all the info you need to make an unformed decisiobn.
I'm sure there are people here who will praise lightmman to high heaven, which is the way it should be if you are happy, and there will also be those who have negative to say about sperber, so your best bet is to take it all with a grain of salt and go with the one who works best for.your family.

| I did hear of Dr. Lightman, actually. I do have a question though- I heard his office staff is ..not as great as he is (trying to put it politely!). Anyone know anything?

| He's in the five towns, right off of rockaway turnpike. He's on the street right before incredible feet (I think that's what its called) and dunkin donuts. You can look up (and map) his exact address.
