Things Mom said when I was a kid and I repeat- FOR FUN!

My favorite line, that I use to 'encourage' DH or my DS to help, is 'I guess I will just do it myself because then I won't need to say thank you to anyone'. I remember her especially using this line when none of us wanted to set the table for Shabbat Smile

It works like a charm lol.

I say a lot of things that many people say but when I say it I hear my mother and it freaks me out lol.

Like "get down you're gonna fall!"
or "please pick that up its making me crazy"

I am my mothers daughter after all Smile

(I remember years ago my dad lying on the couch and taking a deep breath and coughing at the end then he burst out laughing and said "that sounded like my father help help!")

The best part is getting older and watching your kids turn into you, which actually means turning into your mother....no grandmother...no great grandmother.

When I hear myself tell the kids "you're kvetchy because you went to sleep late" it gives me the chills. And another one, "I will not talk to you (a kid in a mad mood) until youve had breakfast/lunch/dinner" because usually the bad mood is from hunger.

I realized I do it when I teach.

"If you have nothing nice to say don't say it"

And when students are eating candy or at a class party gum/lollypops etc.

"In the mouth or in the garbage" aka dont play with your gum!!!!!!!!!!!

If you hurt yourself doing that, I am not going to the hospital with you! Just found myself saying that to dd today. Totally irrational since she's two and had no clue what I was talking about.

I hope you have a daughter just like you. I found myself saying it to my daughter who is just like me. Only my mother said it when she was not the most pleased with me.
